After a
pleasant drive through the picturesque Mulde Valley
and arrival in Colditz,
we will pass through the main gates, cross the dry moat,
walk through the White Tower Archway and enter
the former German Garrison Courtyard.
Further on to the Former Guard House,
through the Whispering Arch and
enter the Prisoners Courtyard.
In
the British Quarters, an impressive array of sketches,
paintings and WWII Posters, Colditz Porcelain
and
Leather Wall Coverings,
can be admired.
Enter the cellar where
you will see the beginning of the French Tunnel, follow
the line into the Chapel. Here the manufactured, fabricated and utilised
equipment, plus many essentials and
escape
provisions [marmite] discovered
hidden since renovations began.
Your
Guided Tour concludes in the Escape Museum.
Which contains a very comprehensive display of tools, equipment,
disguises, weapons, photographs, creations and smuggled
items from MI 9.
Upon
conclusion, we
have plenty of time to
explore other areas of the Castle, Colditz
Town and some
light refreshments.
